Dr. Tamenes academic journey began at Roxbury Community College in Massachusetts, where he earned a double major in Biology and Pre-Nursing in 2003, graduated with great distinction, president's list. He then transferred to the University of Massachusetts Boston's Honors College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007, and swiftly became a Registered Nurse honor graduate, Board Certified (RN-BC). His dedication to advancing his practice continued at South University in Savannah, Georgia, where he completed his Master of Science in Nursing in 2017 on the Dean's list, specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and graduated from Medical school with great distinction. He achieved honors once again.
As a board-certified internist and certified Family Nurse Practitioner, triple Board-certified, Dr. Tamene is recognized for his expertise and commitment to patient-centered care. He was recognized as the You Made a Difference Award Provider of the year in 2020 for his hard work and dedication towards the Ethiopian community. Emory University selected him to participate in community related health initiatives study with Addis Ababa University Furthermore, he is an active member of the American College of Physicians, where he received the Poster Presentation Award for the year 2023 which was selected number one in the whole state of Georgia for residents poster competition along with an other resident, and he is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, underscoring his dedication to advancing medical knowledge.
Dr. Tamene has embraced leadership roles throughout his career, serving as a Board Member at Herzing University since 2020, where he has influenced the strategic direction and academic standards of the institution. In 2024, he expanded his impact in higher education by joining
Mercer University as an Assistant Professor, where he educates and mentors the next generation of healthcare professionals, and was also selected for the patient satisfaction award.
In addition to his clinical and educational roles, Dr. Tamene has contributed to the medical literature with significant publications for over 15 publications and a book on The Trend of Increasing Redo Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (CABG) in Elderly Male Patients: An Analytical Literature Review and other publications including but not limited to The Efficacy of Antihypertensive Drugs in Lowering Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular Events in the Elderly Population: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis and A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Endoscopic Surveillance Studies for Detecting Dysplasia in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease. which he was invited to speak on international conferences among his few achievements.
